Saint-Saëns Organ Symphony with the Oakland symphony

The Oakland Symphony will perform Saint-Saëns’ Third “Organ” Symphony with Jerome Lenk as the soloist on the Paramount Theatre’s Wurlitzer organ, plus you will also hear Brian Nabors perform his Hammond Organ Concerto.

This is free for SFAGO members! We will gather at the entrance at 7:30 PM; the concert begins at 8:00. There is also an optional pre-concert talk at 7:05 PM. See this video for a preview of the program and the the website for more information.

Presidents' Day mini-convention

Join us for a pipe organ mini-convention featuring workshops, recitals, demonstrations, events for kids, and networking with colleagues - without the convention price tag!

We are hosting events throughout the day at two churches in Berkeley within a block each other: First Church (2345 Channing Way, Berkeley, CA 94704) and First Presbyterian (2407 Dana St, Berkeley, CA 94704). There is also a youth track geared towards young musicians aged 8-18 curious about the organ regardless of prior experience!

We will gather at 9:00 AM at First Church; parking is available in the church’s parking lot.

Click this link to RSVP if you are interested in attending! You are welcome to join even if you do not RSVP but this will help us obtain a headcount and plan accordingly.

Concert organist Nathaniel Gumbs will give a recital at Grace Cathedral, one of the finest organs in San Francisco. Dr. Gumbs serves as Director of Music at The Riverside Church in New York City and maintains a vibrant performing career, appearing at many distinguished venues in the U.S.A. and abroad. A festive reception will follow. This event is jointly sponsored with Grace Cathedral and the Palo Alto/Peninsula AGO chapter.

Join us at the shop of Gary Blaise (314 12th St., San Francisco) for a harpsichord salon! Spencer (Xiang-Xiang) Reynolds will give a short presentation on several harpsichords and clavichords, including a pedal harpsichord. Dr Tim Zerlang will demonstrate an exquisite, 100% wood house organ, built by Gary Blaise.

The shop is close to the intersection of 12th St. and Folsom. Take BART to the 16th St. Mission station. Follow station exit signs to 16th & Mission NE. We will be arranging groups to walk together from the BART station to the venue (and back again). Refreshments will be provided after the presentations.
